As part of Paris Fashion Week in 2023, I was honoured to take part in an awe-inspiring laser mapping project at Maison Margiela. The event employed the use of cutting-edge technology to transform the fashion house's space into a captivating visual spectacle.
To achieve this, a total of 16 OPSL laser projectors were strategically positioned throughout the venue. These highly advanced projectors, working in tandem with the innovative software Pangolin Beyond, allowed for precise and dynamic laser mapping.
The main objective of the project was to map 3D animated video content onto various surfaces within the Maison Margiela space. This process involved the meticulous mapping of laser beams onto the reception walls. As a result, a seamless integration of the laser animation with the physical space was achieved, blurring the boundaries between reality and digital art.
To bring the visuals to life, the laser animation was rendered using the powerful software Cinema 4D. The combined use of the latest projection technology and advanced animation software resulted in an aesthetically stunning and immersive experience for the audience.
This project not only showcased the ground-breaking potential of technology in artistic expression, but it also highlighted the visionary approach of Maison Margiela in pushing the boundaries of the fashion industry. This collaboration between lasers, software and creative direction served as a testament to the power of imagination and the limitless possibilities of merging different disciplines.
